SKILLS THAT STAND OUT
-
The Movement Refinery is an industry-leading boutique studio and teacher training organisation that puts the craft and our clients first. We share our learnings and passion within you over this 6+ month Progressive Classical Reformer teacher training programme. At 180+ hours, it is one of the only programmes in the region that puts the original work front and centre and has an equal focus on skill acquisition, biomechanics and client care. This approach equips you to work with all ‘apparently healthy’/low-risk clients while developing your critical thinking skills to offer safe and effective tuition in the Pilates studio or fitness environment.

-
If you are a university-qualified allied health care professional, your existing qualification and professional registration will allow you to work with all clients including providing rehabilitation care services.
Otherwise, this course prepares you to work with ‘apparently healthy’/low-risk clients’. While the work is therapeutic, only select tertiary qualifications permit you to diagnose an injury or condition and treat accordingly. A Pilates teacher is a Pilates specialist, someone who is expert in the method and applying this to an ‘apparently healthy’ clientele.
Where this course differs from other Pilates courses is that we offer a skills-acquisition focus to the work. Once you have identified contraindications or concerns of the client in front of you, you will be able to apply our building blocks of each exercise and still work with them in an exercise capacity.
One of the greatest strengths of a movement teacher is to know when to refer to an allied health care professional for manual or exercise therapy.
-
This course will help you stand out from the many new graduates each year because it is one of a handful of courses globally that puts Pilates unashamedly front and centre. As a graduate of our course, you will be able to deliver a Reformer class or coach Reformer movements privately knowing the transformative power of the sequence in a variety of applications
Gym and fitness centres
Boutique and franchise Pilates studios/health clubs
Community programmes
Pilates studios that offer Reformer classes
Allied health clinics that offer an exercise programme
Online/digital fitness platforms or live-streamed classes
-
We believe in equipping you with all the tools AND providing access to the original work because this is what increases your wellbeing in the workplace and confidence in the industry.
Other training organisations split the work into levels or sequences and you can add to your learning as funds and time allows .. but often, we don’t go back and finish what we started.
Our answer is to offer you three price-points (online only, add face to face training, add certificction) but ALL the course material. This way, you can study and develop respecting your resources but not sacrifice your knowledge. Importantly, you will be prepared to work with clients of all levels with adaptive building blocks and inclusive drills.
